Educational Grants
Ann Watson’s Will 300 years ago established a Trust to improve the educational opportunities of local children to improve their employability and this remains a key objective of the Trust to this day.
All beneficiaries of a grant must be under 25 years of age, have lived in Hull or the East Riding of Yorkshire and be either currently attending or have attended a school in that area for at least three years. Applications can be submitted by any of the following via the links below:
Parents/guardians acting on behalf of a child aged under 18,
Students aged over 18 but under 25 years,
Organisations where it can be demonstrated that young people under 25 years of age will be the beneficiaries.
By way of example, grant funding for individuals may be considered - for equipment or other educational items of support; to support special educational needs; to purchase equipment and books to further a student’s education or career; to fund necessary educational or job seeking travel; to support exceptionally gifted children in music, the visual or performing arts; or to part-fund once only expeditions promoting social, physical and emotional wellbeing.
Grant funding for organisations may be considered for voluntary bodies which promote social, physical or emotional training and/or life skills or informal educational benefits; or to support the non-core activities of educational organisations, for example, training, travel or maintenance costs to enable young people to further their education or access employment.
And some small print … all applications must be completed in full and submitted electronically where possible. Applications will be means tested. Grants are subject to the availability of funds, must be of educational, social or community benefit and will not be awarded for anything normally provided by a statutory authority. References may be required and preference will be given to applications supported by a member of the clergy. The Trustees decision will be final in all cases.
PLEASE NOTE APPLICATIONS CAN ONLY BE CONSIDERED ON THE TRUSTEE MEETING DATES:
